Day 1: Antalya
After departing from Istanbul in the morning, we arrive in Antalya where we meet our guide and drive to the ancient site of Phaselis. This famous ancient commercial harbor north of Olympos is situated within the pine and cedar trees of Bey Mountains Natural Park. It is really a delightful beach sheltered by trees. Most of the remains are from Roman times and include aqueducts, agoras, baths, a theater, Hadrian’s Gate, and the acropolis. Each emphasizes the former importance of this city as a commercial center.

Next we continue to ancient Myra. Here, many splendidly carved rock tombs overlook the magnificent Roman theater. We also visit the tomb of St. Nicholas who was the bishop of this Mediterranean city during the 4th century. Every year on December 6th, the Santa Claus (Father Christmas) Commemoration Ceremony is held, attracting many tourists who spend their Christmas holiday on the sunny coast of ancient Lycia.

Day 2: Antalya
This morning we depart for a half-day sightseeing tour of Antalya. We first visit the Archeology Museum which offers an exposition on statues of various Greek gods, a stunning mosaic collection from Xanthos, extraordinary findings from the Karain Caves, which date back to the Old Stone Age, as well as a comprehensive ethnographical collection. Next we visit Kaleici, Antalya’s old quarter. Narrow streets, charming cafés, and numerous souvenir shops bring a special attractiveness to this part of the city. From here we drive to the the ancient site of Aspendos. Aspendos is famous for having the best preserved theater of antiquity. Here we can also visit the acropolis of the city with a great view of the river. Our last visit today is to the ancient site of Perge. Perge was an important city in Pamphylia. Today its ruins include a theater, a palaestra, a temple of Artemis, and two churches. At the end of our tour we transfer to the Antalya airport for the return flight to Istanbul.
