Ephesus Wonders (Half day tour)

Our first visit is to the site of Ephesus which is perhaps the world's best preserved ancient city. The splendid ruins at this archaeological site attract visitors from across the globe. We will walk along the Sacred Way, see the Temple of Hadrian, a Corinthian-style building with the head of Medusa on the porch, as well as the Library of Celsius. We also pay a visit to the immense amphitheater which is perhaps the most impressive of all the ruins at this site.

Next, we continue to the town of Selcuk and visit the Ephesus Archeology Museum. Almost all of the exhibits are findings from the Ephesus site, the most spectacular being two life-size statutes of Artemis Ephesia, both dating from the middle Roman imperial era.

- The recently opened Roman period villas known as the Terrace Houses of Ephesus.

- The House of the Virgin Mary. The chapel is built on the foundation of the house where the Virgin Mary is believed to have lived.

- The Basilica of St. John. A basilica built by the Emperor Justinian, the impressive ruins of which are still visible.

- Sirince old Greek village: a lovely hillside village where you can experience the local life.

- The local rug weaving village of Sultankoy. Here we break for a grilled lunch and have the opportunity to learn about some local crafts, such as rug-weaving. We may also be able to see demonstrations performed by local craftsmen.
